Donghua University and Japan's largest scientific instrument manufacturer signed an industry-university cooperation to jointly promote food safety concepts

With the changes in the concept of nutrition and health, fresh fruits and vegetables have gradually replaced delicate foods as delicacies on the table. However, the issue of "pesticide residues" that has followed has become a concern for many people. In order to fulfill our social responsibility in maintaining the safety of agricultural products and food, Our school established the "Eastern Taiwan Pesticide Residue and Toxic Inspection Center" in 2016, and because we hope to continue to promote food safety and agricultural inspection knowledge, we specially invited Principal Zhao Hanjie and President Yosuke Hashimoto of Taiwan Shimadzu Scientific Instruments Company on March 30 Signed a memorandum of cooperation to establish the "National Dong Hwa University and Taiwan Shimadzu Scientific Instruments Co., Ltd. Joint Mass Spectrometry Education and Training Laboratory" with a view to integrating the resources of both parties and jointly planning academic seminars, related research and education training, etc., to increase the number of students on campus Diversified learning opportunities and provision of consultation and training on professional knowledge such as food safety, agricultural inspection and environmental inspection.
The Agricultural Inspection Center is currently the only pesticide residue testing laboratory in Hualien County that has passed the National Accreditation Foundation (TAF) testing laboratory ISO/IEC 17025:2017 certification. It can provide fresh fruits and vegetables, dried beans, grains and Testing of 410 pesticide residues and fungicides dithiocarbamates in tea and other agricultural products; the center also introduced the pesticide residue mass spectrometry testing technology developed by the Institute of Pharmacy and Toxicology, which can monitor 200 common pesticide residues in China in the past three years in a short time kind of pesticide, which is an environmentally friendly, fast and accurate rapid testing technology; therefore, the center can provide two testing methods: "complete and accurate" and "fast and cheap", so that the testing units can send samples according to needs and reduce farmers' costs. The cost of submitting for inspection and the willingness to improve independent management. The principal expressed his great gratitude to Provost Guo and Director He for their hard work at the beginning of the establishment of the center, which has enabled the unit to have good work performance. He also thanked the frontline staff of the unit for their hard work. He hoped that the center would be able to cooperate with Shimadzu in the future. Become an excellent training base in Hualien.
Shimadzu Instruments Manufacturing Co., Ltd., the parent company of Taiwan Shimadzu Scientific Instruments Co., Ltd., is the largest scientific instrument company in Japan. The company continues to research new technologies and develop new products in the fields of analytical testing instruments, medical instruments, aviation industrial machinery, life sciences and environmental protection, and uses its three core technologies of light technology, X-ray technology and image processing technology as its core technologies. The foundation is constantly innovating to meet a wide range of market needs, making Shimadzu's high-tech products enjoy high reputation around the world. President Yosuke Hashimoto said that the founding purpose of his parent company is "to contribute to society through science and technology." Therefore, he hopes to implement this concept together with the desire to realize "the health of mankind and the earth" in Taiwan companies, so I hope that we can continue to deepen our cooperation with our school in the future.
Director He said that when the Agricultural Inspection Center was first established, Taiwan Shimadzu assisted in setting up the laboratory after winning the bid. Therefore, the center is now equipped with Shimadzu’s latest gas and liquid tandem mass spectrometers; and Shimadzu will cooperate with our school in 2021 Seminars will be held, and in 2022, the Agricultural Inspection Center will assist Shimadzu customers in conducting agricultural inspection-related education and training, so the two parties have always had good interactions. The joint laboratory established this time not only jointly promotes industry-university cooperation projects, but also hopes to provide a suitable learning environment for the application and training of instruments, and work together to contribute to agricultural sustainability and food safety.
